Life has been wonderful in these parts! My mom and sis came and left and we had a blast! Before they came I worked my butt off to get the house in order. Then when they came, we stayed up late, got up early, and ran nonstop all day. When they left, we were exhausted!
This week has been Mommy and Annie's recovery staycation! We've been vegging out watching Full House, (my mom got me all seasons for my birthday).
We're supposedly getting our bed tomorrow- if not- watch out Ashley Furniture! After we get the bed, I'll post pics of the house. :)
I was thinking yesterday what a special month August is in our family. I listed all the special days to us, and just look at how many fall in August:
August 4- My birthday
August 4- Annie's Adoption day
August 20- Paul's birthday
August 21- Our Engagement day
August 24- The day I met Annie
August 26- The day Paul met Annie and we were given the green light :)
other important dates in our lives:
October 29- Gotcha Day
December 10- Annie's birthday
April 6- The day we met
April 7- Our Wedding day

S Gifts
Annie received Shrek gifts at her Adoptionversary party. For Paul's birthday next week we got him Superman movies.
Apparently I had to go along with this completely unintentional "S" trend and for my birthday I got Starfish jewelry!

Betsey Johnson Lobster and Starfish necklace with matching Starfish earrings. How perfect for me?! Lobster for Paul and Starfish for Annie...and its pink- this was made for me!!
Betsey Johnson Starfish necklace and matching earrings.
All the pieces I had to get from Amazon, but this necklace was from Macys.com.
I am most definitely not a brand snob! I have never owned anything, nor really desired anything, from Betsey Johnson, but it is undeniable that these items are perfect for me!
This necklace I found for full price, (about $40). We decided to wait and get it closer to my birthday. We went back and it was GONE. Sad sad day!
Well, when my mom, sis and I were shopping we found it- on sale! My mom got it for me! Thanks mom! I loved it cause it has starfish, but they are more subtle. :)
Also at the store I found these starfish earrings that I bought for myself. I had 3 piercings on each ear and 1 cartilage piercing. I let them close up around 5 years ago. Well, they never closed and I have been searching for tiny starfish earrings to wear. I hit the jackpot at the store! On sale mind you! Originally $30 each, I got 2 pairs of earrings and a matching necklace for $30 total. :)
My cartilage and my second hole are doing well. :) Sorry for my awkward ear pic! :)

Raider Red
Saturday when my mom and sis were in town we ventured over to Lubbock to check out the mall. It left much to be desired. BUT while we were there, the Tech Cheerleader and Raider Red were there for pictures. Annie saw Raider Red and waved away. If I had picked her up at that moment and got a picture, it would have worked out. But she was in her stroller a little too long and freaked out at the larger than life mascot. Her tears, and screams, did not go away. She reached for the camera man and allowed him to hold her- anything to get her away from Raider Red! lol She even cried with the cheerleaders... but she'd look at one and stop crying to say hi, then continue crying. Little stinker!
Paul is an alumnus of Texas Tech, so we will be spending much time in Lubbock for games since we now live relatively close to campus. If I had known about the photo op I would have dressed Annie in her Red Raider dress I made her. Oh well, we'll have many more photo ops at the football/baseball games. :) Wreck 'Em Tech!

Mini Shrek Party
First of all, special shout out to my mom and sis who stepped in to help with the food prep and clean up! Thanks a bunch y'all!
Annie is in love with Shrek, (the 4th one, the others are not exactly age appropriate so she hasn't seen them). I had been planning a Minnie/Mickey party to celebrate her first adoptionversary, but then she fell in love with the big green Ogre. What to do?
I decided on 2 mini parties... a Minnie/Mickey dinner and a Shrek breakfast. I searched Pinterest and didn't find many ideas, so I hope some of my ideas will aid in others' search for Shrek party ideas. :)

Mini Minnie/Mickey Party
This weekend my mom and sis came to town and we had a blast! We celebrated Annie's adoptionversary while they were here. We had two mini parties for her. First on deck, Minnie/Mickey:
Fondant FAIL! Long story,I did what I could do. *sigh*
She got lots of Shrek presents:
Our "Keeping up with the Kardashians," moment. We needed her to smile and she loves pushing my sister's butt out of the way- she finds it hysterical. So to get her smiling in all of the above pics, my sister took one for the team. It worked beautifully. But, it totally made me feel like we were Kardashians... doesn't it seem like something you'd see on their show? lol
Stay tuned for tomorrow's party post- mini Shrek Party
