Chick-fil-a

I am fuming right now, so I must get this off my chest.

The Chick-fil-a incident to me has nothing to do with gay marriage.  If  you knew my stance on gay marriage it would most definitely surprise you, but this is not what this post is about.

The reason I ate at Chick-fil-a on Wednesday, (besides that fact that we like it), was because I was supporting the Constitution.

It honestly had nothing to do with the fact that I am a Christian. Nothing.

It had everything to do with the fact that Dan Cathy spoke out and was crucified for it.  Now don't get me wrong, you as an individual have the right to protest Mr. Cathy, but cities saying he can't do business- that's just crazy.

If he had said something truly hateful- then I would be the first one to protest his restaurants.  But he did not.  He was exercising his freedom of speech.  Whether you agree with it or not, government has no right to restrict it and it is scary that those Governors said what they did.

What has my blood boiling is that I just saw an article praising the kiss in as "couples exercising their constitutional right...". Yes, it is their constitutional right.  But what about Dan's constitutional rights?  What about the rights of those that ate at Chick-fil-a on Wednesday?  Whether making a comment about the Constitution, Christianity or their thoughts on marriage- it was their right and they were peaceably exercising it.

It just makes me mad that the kiss-in was praised as an exercise of free speech, while Dan's comments and Wednesday's protest were hailed as hate.  It makes me sick.  ALL the incidents were exercises of free speech- and I have NO issue with any of them.  I just see a double standard-that's what annoys me.

For the love of America and the love of our Freedom of Speech- citizens protest away, but government stay out!
